When Should You Visit Las Vegas?

The short answer: March-May and September-November offer the best combination of pleasant weather, reasonable prices, and manageable crowds. But the "best" time depends entirely on what you want from your trip.

We've analyzed hotel pricing data, weather patterns, event calendars, and crowd levels to give you the definitive month-by-month breakdown.

Month-by-Month Breakdown

January

Weather: 47°F avg high, cool nights (33°F)
Hotel prices: Lowest of the year (except CES week)
Crowds: Low after New Year's, massive during CES (Jan 7-10)
Best for: Budget travelers, indoor activities

January is the cheapest month to visit Vegas — rooms at mid-Strip hotels drop to $50-$80/night. The catch: CES (Consumer Electronics Show) takes over the city for one week, tripling hotel prices and filling every restaurant. Avoid CES week unless you're attending.

February

Weather: 55°F avg high, still cool
Hotel prices: Low (spike for Super Bowl weekend and Valentine's Day)
Crowds: Low to moderate
Best for: Couples, sports fans

Super Bowl weekend is the biggest sports betting event of the year — sportsbooks are electric but hotels spike 3-4x. Valentine's Day weekend sees premium pricing at restaurants and shows. Otherwise, February offers great value.

March

Weather: 65°F avg high, perfect outdoor weather
Hotel prices: Moderate (rising for March Madness and spring break)
Crowds: Moderate to high
Best for: Overall best month for first-timers

March is arguably the single best month to visit. Weather is ideal for walking the Strip, pool season begins at some hotels, and March Madness creates incredible sportsbook energy. Spring break brings college crowds mid-month.

April

Weather: 73°F avg high, warm and sunny
Hotel prices: Moderate
Crowds: Moderate
Best for: Pool parties, outdoor activities, day trips

Pool season is in full swing, dayclubs open, and the weather is perfect for Grand Canyon day trips. Hotel prices are reasonable, and the spring break crowds have dispersed. One of our top recommended months.

May

Weather: 83°F avg high, getting hot
Hotel prices: Moderate to high (Memorial Day spike)
Crowds: Moderate, increasing
Best for: Pool parties, EDC weekend

EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) in mid-May brings 150,000+ festival-goers. If you're not attending, avoid that weekend — or embrace the energy. Memorial Day weekend kicks off summer pricing. Pool parties are at their best.

June

Weather: 100°F+ avg high, extreme heat
Hotel prices: Moderate (heat keeps some tourists away)
Crowds: Moderate
Best for: Budget-conscious visitors who don't mind heat, pool lovers

Triple-digit heat means walking the Strip is brutal after 10 AM. But hotels compensate with lower rates, and pools become the main activity. Plan outdoor activities for early morning or after sunset. Stay hydrated — seriously.

July

Weather: 106°F avg high, peak heat
Hotel prices: Moderate (July 4th spike)
Crowds: Moderate (families on summer vacation)
Best for: Pool parties, indoor activities, 4th of July fireworks

The hottest month. July 4th weekend features spectacular fireworks from multiple casino rooftops. Otherwise, plan for pool time, air-conditioned shows, and late-night activities. Drink water constantly — dehydration is a real risk.

August

Weather: 104°F avg high, still extreme
Hotel prices: Low to moderate (best summer deals)
Crowds: Low to moderate
Best for: Budget travelers, monsoon storm watchers

August is the least popular month for Vegas tourism, which means excellent hotel deals. Monsoon season brings dramatic afternoon thunderstorms (usually brief). This is when locals reclaim the city.

September

Weather: 95°F avg high, heat breaking
Hotel prices: Moderate (rising for NFL season and iHeartRadio)
Crowds: Moderate, increasing
Best for: Sports fans, music lovers, value seekers

NFL season kicks off, making sportsbooks exciting again. The iHeartRadio Music Festival brings major acts. Heat begins to break by late September. A great value month as summer pricing ends but fall hasn't fully started.

October

Weather: 80°F avg high, perfect
Hotel prices: Moderate to high
Crowds: High (Halloween, conventions)
Best for: Overall excellent month, Halloween events

October rivals March as the best month to visit. Weather is ideal, Halloween transforms the city with themed events and parties, and the convention calendar is packed (good for business travelers). Book early — hotels fill up.

November

Weather: 63°F avg high, pleasant
Hotel prices: Moderate (spike for F1 Grand Prix and Thanksgiving)
Crowds: Moderate to high
Best for: F1 fans, holiday shoppers

The Las Vegas Grand Prix (if running) creates massive demand and sky-high prices for that weekend. Thanksgiving week sees family travelers. Otherwise, November offers pleasant weather and reasonable pricing.

December

Weather: 52°F avg high, cool
Hotel prices: Low early month, extreme for NYE week
Crowds: Low early, extreme for NYE
Best for: Holiday atmosphere, NYE celebrations

Early December is a hidden gem — low prices, holiday decorations, and pleasant weather. Then New Year's Eve arrives and everything changes: 300,000+ people flood the Strip, hotel prices hit $500-$1,000+/night, and the fireworks show is unforgettable.

Best Time by Priority

  • Cheapest hotels: January (non-CES), August, early December
  • Best weather: March, April, October, November
  • Pool season: April through September
  • Fewest crowds: January (non-CES), August, early December
  • Best events: March (March Madness), October (Halloween), December 31 (NYE)
  • First-timers: March or October

Our recommendation: If you can only visit once, choose the last two weeks of March or the first two weeks of October. You'll get perfect weather, reasonable prices, exciting events, and manageable crowds.
